Animated/Feature/Out of Competition
In this innovative version of the world-famous Christmas story, The Secret of the Nutcracker recounts the magical journey of 12-year-old Clara, who sets out on the night of Christmas Eve to find her father in a World War II prisoner of war camp. Along with her mother and her two brothers, Clara and her family long for some word on their father. News eventually arrives from an unexpected source – a mysterious and magical stranger named Drosselmeyer, who befriends Clara and encourages her to believe that miracles can happen. The Secret of the Nutcracker features the music of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and includes four dance spectacles by the world-famous Alberta Ballet.

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "The Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."

A suburban housewife is forced to fend for herself when she becomes stranded in a desolate forest with four murderous thugs. What starts off as a quick trip to the mall ends in the woods with a fight for her life. All she has is a toolbox and her will to survive.
